- Aims to add 20,000 more online merchants by 2015 to its existing roster of 10,000
WEB and cloud hosting provider Exabytes Network Sdn Bhd, via it’s Easy.my division, has announced the acquisition of Hinetmedia to optimize its current e-commerce activities in the country.
Established since 2004, Hinetmedia is a local e-commerce solutions company that hosts and maintains over 800 online stores.
Himall.my is an online shopping mall that carries over 80,000 products from over 800 local Malaysian merchants; while the Hinetmedia eStore offers e-commerce start-up solutions for merchants such as domain set up, payment gateways, shopping cart systems, social marketing tools, website traffic management and more, Exabytes said in a statement.
Some of the online commerce websites that Hinetmedia is currently hosting includes www.secretrecipe.com.my, www.merge4u.com.my, www.babykidseshoppe.com and www.mymegastation.com.my.
With the acquisition by Exabytes, the two business divisions of Hinetmedia – Hinetmedia eStore and Himall.my -- will be integrated with Exabytes’ virtual shopping mall, Easy.my.
Easy.my is hosted on Exabytes’ system and provides an integrated platform which automates and streamlines back-office processes to enable merchants and customers to more effectively manage orders, inventory, accounting and marketing, the company claims.
According to Exabytes founder and CEO Chan Kee Siak (pic), the acquisition of Hinetmedia fulfills the company’s promise to provide greater experience and satisfaction to online shoppers, in response to the maturing online shopping trend in Asean.
“Acquiring Hinetmedia is a strategic decision in line with Exabytes’ e-commerce expansion plan because it allows us to accelerate our market outreach time to new prospect retailers,” he said.
Chan added that the acquisition of Hinetmedia is part of Easy.my’s strategy towards becoming Asean’s largest online shopping virtual mall.
“Currently, Easy.my is one of the largest online shopping malls in Malaysia with over 7000 retailers and is the gateway for local merchants to reach out to global-wise customers. Its simplified interface is a hassle-free and cost effective channel for merchants to promote their products without spending much in time and money in setting their individual e-commerce website,” he said.
According to Chan, with the acquisition of Hinetmedia, Easy.my will be serving over 10,000 e-commerce merchants selling over 100,000 products online.
“By 2015, we are looking forward to recruit 20,000 more online merchants in line with the market growth of social media and online retailing,” he added.
