ECS inks distribution deal with CA TechnologiesBURSA Malaysia-listed ECS ICT Berhad has inked a deal with global IT management solutions provider CA Technologies to distribute the latter’s data management solutions in Malaysia, effective immediately.

This deal will see ECS ICT’s wholly-owned subsidiary ECS Astar Sdn Bhd become an authorized distributor of CA ARCserve data protection and CA ERwin data modeling software, ECS ICT said in a statement.

CA ARCserve data protection solutions simplify backup and disaster recovery for physical and virtual server environments, helping to ensure business continuity, ECS ICT said.

CA ERwin data modeling tools help business and technical users better understand and enforce critical data definitions and more easily leverage information as a strategic asset, it added.

It has always been the Group’s objective to ensure our principals have full access to their target markets in Malaysia through our extensive distribution channel,” said ECS ICT managing director Foo Sen Chin.

“We hope that this will be the start of a positive and fruitful relationship that not only enhances CA Technologies’ market share but also reinforces our position as the leading ICT distributor in Malaysia,” he added.

ECS ICT, an MSC Malaysia-status company, is an associate company of ECS Holdings Limited, a Singapore Exchange main board company. It distributes ICT products comprising notebooks, personal computers, printers, software, network and communication infrastructure, servers, and enterprise software from more than 30 leading principals.

It claims to have a nationwide channel network of more than 3,000 resellers comprising retailers, system integrators and corporate dealers, and also provides value-added product support and technical services.

“CA Technologies is delighted to partner with ECS to provide world-class and industry-leading data management solutions that help organizations in Malaysia increase business agility,” said James Forbes-May, vice president of data management at CA Technologies, Asia Pacific.

“We are seeing a growing interest in CA ARCserve and CA ERwin solutions in Malaysia and this is not surprising as organizations begin to leverage new technologies and solutions to tackle the challenges of growing data complexity,” he added.
