Acronis, Avnet join forces on disaster recovery front

• Malaysia now fourth country in Asia where Avnet distributes Acronis solutions to channel partners
• Avnet to sell, market and support Acronis’ suite of disaster recovery and data protection solutions

ACRONIS, which provides disaster recovery and data protection solutions for physical, virtual and cloud environments, said it has entered into a new distribution relationship with Avnet Technology Solutions.
 
With this agreement, Avnet will distribute Acronis solutions that provide protection for businesses threatened by potential technology disasters, the two companies said in a statement.
 
Malaysia is now the fourth country in Asia where Avnet distributes Acronis solutions to channel partners.
 
Floods, earthquakes and other unpredictable disasters in the world in recent years have proven the value of a business continuity policy. It is vitally important to back up critical business data, maintain continuity and provide customer service in the wake of a natural disaster, the companies said.
 
“Disaster recovery and data protection solutions present a tremendous revenue opportunity for value-added resellers, especially in the SMB (small and medium business) market," said Chiew Yue Lam (pic, right), country general manager for Avnet Technology Solutions Malaysia.
 
“With Acronis solutions, we will provide channel partners with the technology and resources they need to successfully address this market opportunity and help them build competitively differentiating business practices that help organisations of all sizes simplify and automate backup and disaster recovery processes,” he said.
 
This includes the ability to manage geographically distributed PCs, workstations and servers, Chiew added.
 
Bill Taylor-Mountford (pic, left), president of Acronis Asia Pacific, said that with Avnet’s channel network and marketing programmes, “we believe we will be able to extend our footprint extensively in Asia and expand our suite of disaster recovery and data protection solutions throughout Malaysia.”
 
Under the new alliance, Avnet will sell, market and support Acronis’ suite of disaster recovery and data protection solutions to resellers and managed service providers (MSPs) throughout Malaysia.
 
As a result, Avnet channel partners will have access to a wider range of data protection and business continuity solutions provided by Acronis, the two companies said.
