FORMER Maxis Bhd senior vice president Mohamed Fitri Abdullah (pic) will be taking over the managing director role at Mesiniaga Berhad, effective Jan 1, 2014, replacing Fathil Ismail who will remain on the board as a non-independent, non-executive director.
Fitri, 49, has over 25 years of experience in the ICT industry in both local and international settings, Mesiniaga said in a statement.
In the last 12 years, he has held various senior leadership positions in several companies such as Maxis and Hewlett-Packard.
His last position before joining Mesiniaga was as senior vice president and head of business services at Maxis, where he was responsible for the corporate, government, SME (small and medium enterprise) and wholesale business for Maxis.
At HP, his last position was as the Asian regional director of the Communications Industry at the company’s Consulting and System Integration business division.
“We are pleased to welcome Fitri into the company as our new managing director,” said Mesiniaga chairman Wan Fusil.
“We strongly feel that he is the right person to lead Mesiniaga going forward because he understands our objective of being the best at ‘Driving Customer Success’ through technology, and has the necessary leadership and management experience and skills to accomplish this,” he added.
Fitri’s appointment comes time as Mesiniaga is attempting to drive a higher-margin business by offering more strategic and outcome-centric business solutions and services.
His track record has shown that he has been able to grow existing businesses in terms of revenue growth with improved profitability, while starting up new ICT service businesses as new revenue and profit streams, Mesiniaga said.
Fitri has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Indiana State University, a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Arizona State University, and attended the Advanced Management Programme from Harvard Business School in 2011.
