SAP unifies its cloud portfolio with HANA

  • SAP HANA Cloud Platform will serve as foundation for the full portfolio of cloud solutions from the company
  • Also introduces ‘significant innovations’ to its line-of-business cloud applications; new version of Business One

SAP unifies its cloud portfolio with HANASAP AG has announced a unified strategy and vision for its broad cloud portfolio, saying this would combine the depth of enterprise solutions with the simplicity of the cloud on SAP HANA Cloud Platform for the real-time enterprise.

SAP HANA Cloud Platform will serve as the foundation for the full portfolio of cloud solutions from SAP, the company said in a statement.

With this integrated approach, companies of all sizes can gain the flexibility, choice and lower cost needed to innovate for growth across their entire business in the cloud. This will help companies of any size create entirely new experiences for their customers, empower employees at scale, optimise the use of resources or unlock value for their business, SAP said.

Building on the recent announcement of SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud, SAP shared its unified cloud vision with its customers and partners at the recent SAPPHIRE NOW event in Orlando, Florida.

To offer maximum flexibility and lower total cost of ownership (TCO), the unified SAP cloud portfolio will empower customers to leverage and extend their existing investments with multiple deployment choices – whether in their data centre, the public cloud, the managed cloud or a hybrid environment to help meet the changing needs of any organisation.

And with SAP HANA Cloud Platform as the underpinning, customers will be able to rely on maximum scale for all cloud-based SAP solutions, including line-of-business cloud applications, cloud-enabled business network and social collaboration solutions, and a managed cloud environment for SAP HANA.

The company also introduced what it called significant innovations to its portfolio of line-of-business cloud applications.

To simplify their technology deployments, the best-run companies are shifting from ad hoc spending to making strategic investments on one platform that span on-premise, managed and public cloud environments, SAP said in its statement.

To empower line-of-business users, SAP said it delivers the most comprehensive portfolio of line-of-business cloud applications with more than 29 million users for four focus areas: People, customer, money and supplier.

The portfolio includes solutions from SAP companies Ariba and SuccessFactors as well as the SAP Cloud for Customer (formerly SAP Customer OnDemand), SAP Cloud for Financials (formerly SAP Financials OnDemand) and SAP Business ByDesign solutions.

Using prepackaged integration flows, customers can leverage best-practice templates to extend their on-premise SAP software investments with line-of-business cloud applications and best-of-breed third-party applications.

“We live in an era where slow kills companies fast,” said Lars Dalgaard, member of the executive board of SAP AG and CEO of SuccessFactors.

“We know that the move to the cloud must be a thoughtful evolution that allows customers to leverage their current investments. We are offering a strategy for our customers to help them execute business with the velocity they need by engaging their people, customers and suppliers to execute at scale.

“We now have the most complete set of offerings in the world to solve business objectives, in virtually every industry, and use case,” he claimed.

Finally, the company also announced the general availability Version 9.0 of the SAP Business One application running on Microsoft SQL.

The business management solution for small businesses can be deployed on premise or in the cloud and is accessible via mobile devices, SAP said.

With more than 50 new features, the latest version offers enhanced capabilities for business partner and warehouse management, infrastructure and inventory management as well as improved systems performance.

In addition, the 9.0 version of SAP Business One natively running on the in-memory platform from SAP is now in restricted shipment.
