Celcom rolls out AirCash free mobile wallet serviceCELCOM Axiata Berhad has enabled its Celcom AirCash service at more than 3,000 online merchants, saying this gives its customers an easy and secure method to make purchases and payments online.

Celcom AirCash is a mobile financial service that allows subscribers to access their money securely via their mobile phones and is offered as a free service to every Celcom customer, the company said in a statement.

Through Celcom AirCash, users’ money is stored in a ‘mobile wallet’ – a virtual account with a maximum limit of RM1,500, allowing them to perform monetary transactions conveniently where and when they choose.

Celcom AirCash simplifies the overall online shopping experience where only the customer’s mobile number is needed for payments at the merchant’s shopping checkout webpage. This eliminates the need to remember and input long credit card numbers while reducing the risk of fraud, the company said.

“Celcom AirCash represents a revolutionary way for our customers to embrace e-commerce and online shopping by fully integrating virtual payment facilities into their mobile phones,” said Celcom Axiata chief digital services officer Afizulazha Abdullah.

“The service completely transforms online payment processes by simplifying it into two simple steps,” he added.

“As an added benefit to our customers, we have formed key partnerships that now allow more than 3,000 merchants to accept Celcom AirCash as a payment method,” said Afizulazha (pic).

These online merchants include Zalora, Groupon, Fashion Valet, Karangkraf, Lazada, TGV Cinemas, The Crescent, Bachabooku, ThePopLook and Al-Humaira Contemporary.

Celcom AirCash accounts are only accessible from customers’ mobile phones by entering a six-digit mobile PIN (m-PIN). As an added layer of security, all transactions are encrypted using USSD GSM security standards and m-PINs are not stored within customers’ devices.

Apart from shopping online, Celcom AirCash can also be used to:

  • Deposit and withdraw money through online banking channels, Celcom branches and kiosks, and selected partner reload terminals and kiosks;
  • Transfer money instantly to other Celcom AirCash users;
  • Reload or transfer airtime between customers’ own or other Celcom prepaid numbers;
  •
  • Reload foreign prepaid numbers from selected operators in 10 countries;
  • Perform international money remittance to XL Tunai (Indonesia) or GCash (Philippines) users; and
  • Pay utility or Celcom bills instantly with no additional service fees.

Celcom customers can register and access Celcom AirCash by dialling *133# on their mobile phones. Cash deposits into Celcom AirCash accounts can be made via online transfers or more than 1,400 physical channels located strategically at public locations nationwide, including Celcom branches, Blue Cubes, terminals and kiosks.

Celcom plans to expand this to more than 8,000 touch points by the middle of 2014, the company said.

From now until the end of December, AirCash users can also enjoy 20% off selected purchases at Zalora.
