Celcom wins two national Labour Day awards

CELCOM Axiata Bhd has won two awards: The ‘Prime Minister Award for Human Resources Excellence (Private Sector),’ which recognises employers for contributing to the development of their workforce; and the ‘1Malaysia Employer Award (GLC).’
 
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak presented both awards to Celcom’s ‘chief people officer’ Mazri Abdul Rahim during the National Labour Day celebration at Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) on June 21, Celcom said in a statement.
 
The ‘2014 Labour Day Award’ ceremony was organised by the Ministry of Human Resources and the Social Security Organisation (Socso) in conjunction with the National Labour Day celebration.
 
The awards recognise the country’s top employers that have contributed towards the development of employees’ skills, knowledge, productivity and capabilities through excellent human resource strategies and practices, Celcom said.
 
“We feel thrilled, honoured and privileged to be receiving not one, but two accolades at such an esteemed and prominent awards programme,” said Celcom chief executive officer Shazalli Ramly.
 
“Winning both awards signifies our commitment in providing a conducive, dynamic and stimulating work environment that offers our employees the opportunities to realise their full potential.
 
“We would not be here today without our employees and would like to thank them for their passion, hard work and dedication over the past two decades,” he added.
 
Celcom brought home a cash prize of RM50,000, a trophy and certificate for winning the ‘Prime Minister Award for Human Resources Excellence (Private Sector)’ while clinching the ‘1Malaysia Employer Award (GLC)’ saw the telco bagging a cash prize of RM10,000, a trophy and certificate. “We foster diversity and constantly strive to enhance our employees’ competencies by taking steps to enrich our training programmes to nurture their career growth, regardless of their gender, religious, racial and cultural backgrounds, in line with the 1Malaysia concept,” said Shazalli.
 
“As a GLC (government-linked company), we understand our role in contributing to society’s development and the nation’s economic growth,” he added.
 
Celcom began 2014 by coming out tops in the Best Service Provider Overall category at the 13th PC.com Readers Choice Awards Night 2012/ 13 after the telco received the highest number of votes from the readers of PC.com magazine.
 
The company said it then won the 2014 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Best Customer Experience in Telecommunications at the inaugural Frost & Sullivan Best Practices in Customer Experience Awards programme.
 
The win came on the back of its business transformation initiative following the implementation of a best-in-class integrated CRM (customer relationship management) platform enabled by Accenture and Oracle.
 
Celcom also clinched the 2014 Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Excellence Awards for M2M Service Provider of the Year.
