CELLULAR services provider DiGi Telecommunications said it has expanded its LTE footprint to East Malaysia with the launch of 4G LTE (Fourth Generation/ Long-Term Evolution) services in Kota Kinabalu in Sabah last week.
It plans to complete its LTE rollout for the year by strengthening its network in East Malaysia, and growing its reach to Tawau and Labuan in Sabah, and Miri in Sarawak, the company said in a statement.
“We will continue to progressively grow our LTE footprint nationwide, focusing on areas where we see a strong demand for LTE services and availability of devices, and where we can make a real difference,” chief sales officer Loh Keh Jiat said at the launch event in Kota Kinabalu.
Loh said that Sabah has among the highest data users on its network, and will now enjoy a consistent Internet experience of a minimum 1Mbps, 80% of the time on its brand-new network there.

By year-end, DiGi’s LTE population coverage in Kota Kinabalu will reach 84%. Its 4G LTE services are already available in the Klang Valley, Penang, Kampar, Johor Baru, and Kuching, the company said.
