1337 Ventures has announced its inaugural Enterprise Ignite Accelerator: GLC Edition, which aims to bring together startups developing technologies that can be deployed at government-linked companies (GLCs) with the GLCs themselves.
The programme focuses on early- to mid-stage startups that are building solutions in the area of transportation, healthcare, real estate, education, telecommunications, and utilities, the company said in a statement.
The collaborative three-month accelerator programme will provide a select number of startups exclusive mentorship from GLC business stakeholders, as well as education and funding to pilot and validate industry innovations, 1337 Ventures said.
The programme complements the company’s 1337 Accelerator, which focuses on developing startups in the consumer space, from gaming to education, retail and lifestyle.
“We’re currently identifying the key GLCs to work with,” said 1337 Ventures chief executive officer Bikesh Lakhmichand (pic).
Among those already on board, he said, are Cyberview, the property developer behind Cyberjaya; SPAD (the Land Public Transport Commission of Malaysia); and MRT Corp, which is behind the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit project.
“This list will be expanded based on the ideas submitted … they may be roped in now … or for the next intake in September,” Bikesh added.
Companies keen on working with GLCs can now submit their ideas in any of the industry areas mentioned above, 1337 Ventures said. They should register now at http://www.1337accelerator.com/ignite/.
Enterprise Ignite: GLC Edition will be launched on April 26 in conjunction with the opening of the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC) in Cyberjaya.
Shortlisted companies will be invited to showcase their initial ideas at a pitching session held during the MaGIC launch, to senior executives from the selected GLCs.
These executives will share the challenges they are looking to address and the innovations they are committed to delivering or investing in. Startups can then pinpoint, match and pitch their solutions to their targeted GLCs.
