Echelon Thailand on in September

TECHNOLOGY, startup and business event Echelon will be organising a Thai edition from Sept 18-19 in Bangkok, its first-ever main Echelon event outside of Singapore.

Echelon Thailand will be a regional event with delegates, speakers, exhibitors, investors and startups from all over South-East Asia, as well as from the international community, its organiser e27 said in a statement.

“Following the success of Echelon 2014 held in Singapore from June 10-11, we knew the time was right to bring the brand and event format outside of Singapore, so as to cast a bigger international spotlight on other South-East Asian markets,” said e27 cofounder and chief executive officer (CEO) Mohan Belani.

“Echelon has always been a well-respected brand with startups, investors and sponsors, and we want to take that success and branding to work with local partners and communities to build their ecosystems,” he added.

Co-organising Echelon Thailand 2014 is Bangkok-based co-working space and community connector Hubba, which also co-organised Echelon 2013 and 2014’s Thailand Satellites, as well as Echelon Ignite: Thailand in 2012 and 2013.

“We are very happy to be co-organising Echelon Thailand 2014 with e27, and equally excited that Thailand will be the first country outside of Singapore to organise an Echelon event,” said Hubba cofounder and co-CEO Amarit Charoenphan.

“This is a huge step forwards in having the international community accepting the entrepreneurial talent in Thailand’s technology industry, and bringing more foreign and local investment to grow both Thailand and South-East Asia’s technology industry,” he added.

Early-bird tickets are now available and the call for submissions for Thai and international startups wanting to participate in Echelon Thailand 2014 is now open here.

Startup marketplace, satellite events

Echelon Thailand 2014 will feature an exhibition area and pitching stage for selected startups, Singapore-based regional media outfit e27 said in its statement.

These startups will first have to pitch their business and innovation at one of three satellite events before being selected for the main event. Both Thai and international startups are encouraged to submit their entries by July 25 2014 at e27.co/echelon/Thailand.

Three Satellites are being organised around the main event. They will be held in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket.

Satellites are free to attend community events that feature startups shortlisted from the submission stage, pitching to investors and audience for the opportunity to exhibit and pitch at Echelon Thailand 2014, e27 said.
