AIA chooses Software AG’s webMethods for its wellness programme

FRANKFURT-headquartered Software AG said that pan-Asian life insurance company AIA Group Ltd has selected its webMethods platform for its wellness programme, AIA Vitality. Financial terms were not disclosed.

AIA Vitality enables AIA customers to manage and improve their health more effectively and be rewarded for doing so, Software AG said in a statement.

To date, it has been rolled out in Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong and the Philippines.

Each country’s AIA Vitality Membership Management Platform is based on an enterprise architecture that is less ‘hard-wired’ and more microservices-based, allowing AIA to create reusable business objects, Software AG said.

“AIA Vitality is a transformational initiative to support healthy living habits, and its rollout has been supported by Software AG, which clearly demonstrated its understanding of our business through its integrated solution,” said Andrew Bruce, chief architect of Group Technology and Operations at AIA.

“webMethods provides us with the visibility and control that allows us to manage a very dynamic and fast-paced IT environment, ensuring we can add new offerings for our customers, or address any issues as soon as they arise,” he said in the statement issued by Software AG.

The webMethods middleware solution is a key component of Software AG’s Digital Business Platform, an integrated set of technologies and tools to manage digital transformation and implement new business designs, the German tech giant said in its statement.

It comprises five seamlessly integrated building blocks comprising business and IT transformation, analytics and decisions, integration (including APIs or application programming interfaces), process, and in-memory data.

This results in a more agile business environment and a faster time-to-market in each market, it claimed, adding that webMethods is used by more than 4,000 companies worldwide, including many Fortune 1000 companies.

“AIA Vitality is a powerful example of how real customer benefits can be delivered when IT is closely aligned with business needs,” said Software AG’s Asia Pacific and Japan chief operating officer Stanimira Koleva.

“AIA’s selection of webMethods was based on our ability to deliver a highly reliable and proven business integration and process management platform, coupled with our expertise in the insurance industry,” she added.
