Astralink appoints Bill Chang as CEO to lead IoT push

• Chang will manage the company’s overall business operations
• Responsible for the implementation of market strategies as it pushes into the APAC region

ASTRALINK Technology Group on Nov 15, announced the appointment of Bill Chang (pic) as their chief executive officer to lead the firm's Internet of Things (IoT) push.

In this role, Chang will manage the company’s overall business operations and is responsible for the implementation and execution of its market strategies as it pushes into the Asia-Pacific region and further.

“Bill’s successful history managing technology businesses across Asia makes this an ideal appointment for Astralink as we enter a new phase of our business transformation and growth. His depth of knowledge in the technology sector especially as it relates to wireless connectivity and the Internet of Things will open new business opportunities in this market,” said HC Fong, executive director and outgoing chief executive officer of Astralink.

Fong remains an integral part of the executive committee and will move into an oversight role where his leadership and mentoring of the team continues.

Central to Astralink's IoT strategy is AT.Things, a common platform that address the needs of various vertical industries. From a home owner seeking security or power efficiency to a patient who needs to be monitored remotely and an office manager looking for tools to improve productivity in the workplace - Astralink has solutions that address these needs.

Chang said: “HC has led the team in developing the truly unique and innovative AT.Things technology platform. This technology will revolutionise the way we deliver healthcare wherever we are. Monitoring our health is no longer a task that needs to be undertaken in a hospital or doctor’s clinic. We can just as easily be at home or anywhere in between. The capabilities of the Internet enable the many devices we use to monitor our vital signs to be connected with information made immediately available to a healthcare provider.”

Chang has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications and information technology industries.

He joined Astralink from management services group BigHooHaa where he was a founding member and has a history of executive management with roles in U Mobile as chief planning & Strategy; Nokia, Malaysia as managing director; Nortel; 3D Networks; and Telus, Canada, China and South East Asia.
