Avnet appoints former Microsoft exec Asia Pacific VP of operations

• 18 years of international experience, started his career at HP Europe
• To lead and provide strategic direction for business operations in APAC

GLOBAL technology distributor Avnet Inc has announced the appointment of Mathias von Bescherer (pic above) to the role of vice president, operations, for Avnet Technology Solutions, Asia Pacific.
 
In this role, he will lead and provide strategic direction for business operations, as well as drive consolidation and optimisation in the region, the company said in a statement.
 
Based in Singapore, he will also be focused on identifying efficiencies across the business and delivering best-in-class customer service for the Asia Pacific region.
 
“With an excellent track record in sales and operational functions, Mathias [von Bescherer] will be a great asset to our Asia Pacific team,” said William Chu, president, Avnet Technology Solutions, Asia Pacific.
 
“The ongoing transformation in business, technology and the channel allows Avnet to continue to evolve and create innovative solutions that drive next-generation opportunities.
 
“With talented resources such as von Bescherer, Avnet can better engage with key stakeholders to drive overall operational excellence across the region,” he added.
 
von Bescherer has more than 18 years of international experience in business, sales and operational roles across the United States, Europe, Hong Kong and Singapore, Avnet said in its statement.
 
Prior to joining Avnet, he held strategic roles at Microsoft including Asia Pacific sales excellence lead SMS&P (Small and Midmarket Solutions & Partners) after four years as director in both consumer channel and business operations in Asia Pacific.
 
He began his career at Boeblingen, Germany (under Hewlett-Packard Europe), and drove operational engagement programmes at the regional level. From there, he took on roles with Dicota and Targus.
 
von Bescherer is an executive member of the American Chamber of Commerce with Master's degrees in business administration and mechanical engineering from the University of Heibronn in Germany.
