AXA Singapore introduces live doctor consultations

AXA Singapore has launched MyAXAHealth, a one-stop health app that gives users access to medical advice from Singapore-based GPs (general practitioners) via live chat or a secure 'face-to-face' video call anytime and anywhere.

This is the first time an insurer is offering such a service in Singapore and Asia, AXA Insurance Singapore said in a statement.

Its chief health officer Andre Czanik said this service was a new milestone to deliver a better customer experience and reinforce the company's role as a health partner to its customers.

The MyAXAHealth app will provide the region’s first mobile service to conduct live chat consultations with a certified GP, the company claimed. However, it should be noted that Indonesian startups like Konsula and Alodokter also offer similar services via their platforms.

Using video-calling technology available on smartphones, MyAXAHealth allows customers to directly connect with a GP to seek medical advice, obtain a medical prescription, or request for a specialist referral.

The mobile app will also allow customers to manage their healthcare experience by submitting and tracking their health claims online. Supported by the AXA Assistance Medical Desk, customers will also be able to collect prescriptions from their local pharmacy and benefit from a specialist referral service.

AXA Singapore said it will be rolling out the live doctor consultation service to 5,000 users, comprising employees and existing AXA customers, within the next month.

“With the prevalence of personal mobile devices and increasing reliance on technology, there is a need to fill the gap of being able to gain access to medical advice anytime, anywhere," said AXA Insurance Singapore chief claims officer Leo Costes.

"We found the balance by bringing these two functionalities together with a single, one-stop app that is easily accessible via mobile devices,” he added.
