Celcom appoints Yap Wai Yip of acting CFO

• Assumes the role effective Aug 8
• Brings over 40 years of experience to the role

Celcom Axiata Berhad (Celcom) announced the appointment of Yap Wai Yip (pic) as its acting chief financial officer effective Aug 8. 

In an official statement, the company said Yap will be assuming the role held by Jennifer Wong Chui Fen who has decided to pursue other interests outside of Celcom with effect from August 31.

According to Celcom, Yap has been with the Axiata Group since October 2008 and brings with him over 40 years of experience including more than 14 years in the telecommunications industry. 

He has held various senior level management roles in finance within Axiata Group, the firm added.

Celcom said it would like to extend its appreciation to Wong over the course of her 15-year career and service with the organisation. 

“Ong played a key role in driving Celcom’s business transformation, which in turn resulted with positive turnarounds of Celcom’s business performance in the recent years,” it added.
