Dell’s Matthew Johnston takes Asean role at Commvault

• Has held a number of regional software leadership roles at Dell
• Now responsible for sales and marketing ops in Asean and South Korea

 
DATA protection and information management company Commvault has appointed Matthew Johnston (pic above) its area vice president for Asean and Korea.
 
He brings over 15 years’ experience in solution selling and enterprise level engagement to Commvault, the company said in a statement.
 
Prior to Commvault, he held a number of software leadership roles at Dell, including managing director for Greater China and general manager of solution sales in Asia Pacific.
 
He cut his teeth as a sales engineer before moving to Quest Software and onto Dell after Quest was acquired by the latter in 2012, according to Commvault.
 
“Matthew [Johnston] has a proven track record driving growth and leading diverse teams across Asia Pacific, in some of the industry’s top enterprise software organisations,” said Owen Taraniuk, head of Commvault in Asia Pacific and Japan.
 
Johnston will be responsible for directing Commvault’s sales and marketing operations in Asean and South Korea, with a focus on growing strategic partnerships with both customers and channel partners, the company said.
 
“The technology landscape has changed dramatically. Today, we are handling and managing so much more data in many more formats,” said Johnston.
 
“My priority at Commvault will be to work with our enterprise and SMB (small and medium business) customers to help them gain full visibility of data and information across their entire organisation in order to turn their data into a powerful strategic asset,” he added.
