E-commerce pact between MatahariMall and NZ’s Fishpond

• One million new products on Indonesian e-marketplace by end-2017
• NZ known for innovative, niche tech products, says its trade commissioner

INDONESIAN online shoppers will soon have more choices thanks to an agreement between MatahariMall and New Zealand’s Fishpond.
 
Under the agreement, Fishpond will use its proprietary WorldFront platform, which sells and ships more than 20 million products from suppliers around the world, will open up one million new products for sale in Indonesia by the end of 2017.

“By partnering with Fishpond, we will have an important addition to our list of strategic partners, and more importantly, our customers will be able to enjoy an even larger product selection to shop from,” said MatahariMall chief executive officer Hadi Wenas.
 
Fishpond chief executive officer Ben Powles said the partnership would bring together two companies focused on technology and innovation, to bring the best of e-commerce to Indonesia.
 
“The WorldFront platform is perfect for a marketplace such as MatahariMall.com, [which has] local expertise combined with customers who are eager to purchase a diverse range of products,” he said.
 
New Zealand Trade Commissioner to Indonesia Tim Anderson said his country was known for its innovative, niche technology products.
 
“The technology industry is New Zealand’s fastest growing sector. It is the country’s third largest export earner, behind dairy and tourism, and generates over US$7 billion in annual revenue,” said Anderson.
