Six leading Taiwanese companies introduced their latest innovations and shared the trend of AI solutions during the Taiwan Excellence “Smart Upgrade with AI” Webinar on 1^st October 2021(Friday). The webinar was hosted by the Taiwan’s Bureau of Foreign Trade, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Information Service Industry Association of R.O.C. (CISA).

In his opening remark, the Chairman of CISA Brian Shen (pic) said the pandemic has heightened the focus on digital transformation. Not only in terms of economic activities, but also in terms of our daily lives. He believes that by speeding up digital transformation, corporations will achieve growth and profitability.

“Recognising global artificial intelligence (AI) industrial trends, the Taiwan government launched its Taiwan AI Action Plan years ago. The plan aims to develop smart technologies, while utilizing Taiwan’s prominent information technologies and semiconductor industries to develop AI technologies and facilitate industrial upgraded transformation,” said by Guann-Jyh Lee, the Deputy Director General of Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Digital technologies facilitate medical ​decision-making

The webinar featured Acer Medical’s VeriSee DR, an AI assisted diagnostic software for diabetic retinopathy. VeriSee DR is a system that utilizes AI to analyse diabetic patients’ eye images and showed an accuracy close to that of an ophthalmologist with a referral accuracy of 93%. With this, it assists doctors in diagnosing patients in early stages and outputs a recommendation on whether the patient should be referred to further care within 3 to 5 seconds.

Besides that, imedtac brings smart medicare solutions to usher the world into an age of AIoT healthcare. Their Care Recipient Monitor utilizes time of flight technology, combined with IoMT (Internet of Medical Things) and AI image computing algorithms. This allows easy monitoring of patient’s daily activities and alerts healthcare personnel immediately whenever a patient requires urgent attention. 

Embrace technology to improve customer service

According to James Chang, the Chairman of the board of AI3 co., their QbiAI cloud can detect user intentions and has the ability to actively respond with natural semantic dialogue. This includes typos correction, synonym recognition, user prompts and other functions. With the integrated design of all channels, users can use communication platforms to interact in real time without changing their habits.

Enhance distance learning with the integration of AI

In order to foster an interactive learning community and enhance students’ experience in this era of remote learning, AVer Information Inc presented their AVer DL30 during the webinar. The AI technology of the DL30 drives two auto-tracking modes including “presenter tracking” or “zone tracking” with no need for a camera operator. With this feature, the teacher is always kept in camera view regardless of any other noise interference.
