Ernst & Young Consulting Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with SAP and Petronas, announced the launch of the EY Young Technology Professional Challenge (EY YTPC) 2024.
In a statement, the firm said that Malaysian undergraduates, in their third year of studies or beyond, enrolled in local or foreign universities, are invited to participate in the challenge. The team-based competition, now in its third iteration, aims to raise awareness among Malaysian students on applying enterprise technology in a real business environment, foster innovation in the STEM workforce, and support a network of young technologists, aligning with Malaysia’s Digital Economy aspirations and EY’s purpose of Building a Better Working World.
Ismed Bahatiar, Malaysia Markets and Oil & Gas leader, Ernst & Young Consulting Sdn Bhd, highlighted: "The EY Young Technology Professional Challenge aligns closely with EY's purpose of Building a Better Working World for the next generation, who are poised to become future business and technology leaders. The competition acts as a catalyst in their professional journeys by bringing together experts within the ecosystem to enrich their learning."
The challenge involves teams of two to four members, who will gain hands-on experience with the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), recognised as a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) and a visionary in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Robotic Process Automation. SAP BTP integrates application development, automation, data and analytics, and AI in a unified environment.
Teams will be assessed on their solutions, built using SAP BTP, and their presentations. Judges will evaluate creativity, analytical skills, practical expertise, leadership qualities, and personal attributes.
Throughout the competition, EY, SAP, and Petronas professionals will guide participants from pitching ideas to developing business solutions. The ideas will be reviewed over four weeks, followed by semi-final and final stages in December.
Prizes include up to US$2,700 (RM12,000) and internship opportunities or conditional employment offers with EY member firms in Malaysia.
Vipin Chandran, Managing Director of SAP Malaysia, stated: "SAP is proud to support the EY Young Technology Professional Challenge 2024, fostering collaboration and innovation. Alongside EY and Petronas, we are helping develop future technology leaders and advancing Malaysia’s digital economy. Through SAP BTP, we equip young talents to solve real-world challenges."
Nur Fadillah Bt Mior Sharifuddin, Head of Group Technical Capability Management, Project Delivery & Technology (PD&T) at Petronas, added: "Petronas is proud to partner with EY for the EY Young Technology Professional Challenge 2024, empowering young Malaysian talent in digital innovation. The initiative is bolstered by 14 universities under Petronas’s CHESS programme, bridging academia and industry to develop future-ready leaders."
