IBM appoints Catherine Lian as MD of IBM Malaysia

 

IBM announced the appointment of Catherine Lian (pic) as managing director of IBM Malaysia, effective April 1.  She will report to Patricia Yim, general manager, IBM Asean.

Lian brings with her over 20 years of experience in IT, coming from Dell Technologies where she held various management roles across Asean and South Asian markets including Malaysia, Korea, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, China, Bangladesh, Indochina and Cambodia.

She was most recently the managing director of Dell Indonesia. Throughout her career, she has been consistently recognised for overachieving business targets, and enabling clients to succeed.

Lian is a strong advocate for women in leadership: she has mentored young professionals and was part of the Women’s Entrepreneur Network in her previous role. She graduated from the Universiti Utara Malaysia with a degree in Economics.

As managing director of IBM Malaysia, Lian will be responsible for the business growth and leadership of IBM in Malaysia, building on the strong collaboration with clients, partners, the government and communities, to advance digital transformation and inclusive progress, using AI, Cloud, Blockchain and other emerging technologies.

Lian succeeds Chong Chye Neo who retired from IBM.
