MDEC’s Michael Warren makes another move back to the corporate sector

NEARLY three years after he first quit Malaysia’s national ICT custodian to head back to the corporate sector – only to quit after three months – industry veteran Michael Warren (pic) is once again leaving Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).

This time he is taking on the role of managing director of Emerio Malaysia. Emerio is an NTT Communications company, founded in 1997 and headquartered in Singapore.

Warren first left MDEC, then known as the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), in August 2013, to take over the reins at Fujitsu Malaysia, but was back at the government agency by December, with his final role there being vice president of the Global Business Services cluster.

At Emerio, he will report directly to group chief executive officer Harish Nim.

“We are happy to have Michael [Warren] join us. With his proven track record in the industry, I am confident that he will be able to champion our business and societal goals in Malaysia as well as in the region,” Harish said in a statement.

Warren will lead the company in a transformational programme to deliver new-age applications, solutions and services, while continuing to nurture existing and new business relationships in the Emerio hallmark IT operations service practice, the company said.

“There are tremendous opportunities for Emerio to leverage our regional and NTT Japanese technology heritage to introduce new solutions and services into Malaysia,” said Warren.

“We aim to help Malaysian clients and partners move up the knowledge value chain,” he added.

Warren brings with him over 30 years of industry and leadership experience from across the Asia Pacific region. He holds a degree in Computer Science & Management from the University of Waikato in New Zealand.
