Nokia appoints Sandeep Girotra to lead its APAC business

• Has been heading the Indian market since 2011
• Takes over from Paul Tyler who is leaving the company

 
NOKIA has announced the appointment of Sandeep Girotra (pic above) as head of its so-called Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) market, effective Aug 1, 2016.
 
In his new role, he will lead customer operations, drive the business growth strategy and customer engagement services across multiple channels, the company said in a statement.
 
Sandeep, who has been heading the Indian market since 2011, will be based in Singapore. He takes over from Paul Tyler, who is leaving the company.
 
“I … am confident that with his strong track record and proven management expertise, [Sandeep] will be able to drive the APJ market to the next level,” said Nokia chief customer operations officer Ashish Chowdhary.
 
“[Sandeep] has played a key role in the Indian market in his current and previous roles. He has successfully led the Indian market, which employs nearly 15,000 people, and has shown consistent, strong and always improving performance across all key parameters,” he added.
 
Over a tenure spanning 20 years in Nokia, Sandeep has held several senior management positions in strategy, business development and sales. In his recent role as head of the India market, he was credited with efficiently driving growth and developing deep relationships with customers in this region.
 
“I am delighted to take on this exciting role in such a growing and diverse market, which spans a varied geographical scope, ranging from advanced telecommunications markets such as Japan and South Korea, to dynamic and developing countries like Myanmar and Thailand,” said Sandeep.
