The Pikom Digital Summit makes a return after hiatus

  • First and second part of the series has attracted over 600 registrations
  • Four-part series will address topics in AI, big data, cybersecurity and GBS

The Pikom Digital Summit makes a return after hiatusTHE national technology association of Malaysia (Pikom) has launched its Digital Summit on a virtual engagement platform, following a one-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The four-part program, set to happen from May to July, has attracted over 600 registration on their first and second-part series, the association said in a statement.

The Pikom Digital Summit makes a return after hiatus“The tech industry has been waiting for the return of this summit and after a one-year hiatus due to the unprecedented situation beyond our control. Today, we are proud to bring to you the Pikom Digital Summit (PDS) on a virtual platform,” said Danny Lee, chairman of Pikom (pic).

“I would also say having this summit in May is a blessing in disguise. The past few months saw more tech players signed up as our partners and an increase in registration to the summit. It goes to show the landscape has changed and the acceptance of virtual events is on the rise.”

The first part of the four-part series saw participation from the tech industry, government agencies and small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Ivan Teh, the organising chairman of PDS 2021, said this is also testament to the changing times.

“Digital is now the part and parcel of any business strategy. As companies embark on the transformation of their business, a pivot to a digital mindset is paramount. It is important not only that we know how to prepare in the recovery phase but seek to capitalise on new opportunities,” he said.

The four-part series will address topics in artificial intelligence (AI), big data, cybersecurity, innovation in global business services (GBS) and a special session with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).

“It does not look like the Covid-19 situation will leave us anytime soon. However, there is only one way to address it, we must find ways to adapt, live with the situation and work around the challenges for us to move forward. Technology will be at the core of this transformation of businesses and society,” said Lee.
