DISRUPTIVE consumer product goods (CPG) company Ramblin’ Brands has closed a Euro 4 million (RM18.55 million) financing round led by DSG Consumer Partners, a Singapore based consumer focused venture fund.
Other investors in this round include Sven Mattsson, the former CEO of Oriflame, a Swedish direct selling cosmetics company.
Sven Mattsson and Deepak Shahdadpuri, MD of DSG Consumer Partners, will be joining the Board of Directors.
Ramblin’ Brands is a Singapore-based company founded by Swedish entrepreneurs Mattias Hulting and Peder Wikström. The company creates, markets and sells disruptive products, services and brands that challenge conventions within niche CPG categories.
The first brand is Smile Makers, a female sexual wellbeing portfolio currently sold in 12 markets through leading retailers such as Watsons and Superdrug, as well as on their proprietary e-shop.
The products are already available in the UK, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Hungary, Poland, Israel, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, and continue to enter new markets.
The brand has won awards in design and creativity - Cannes Lions, D&ADs in London, One Show in New York, Fast Company’s Innovation by Design.
The global sexual wellness market is estimated to be worth more than US$20 billion (RM82.7 billion), with an annual growth rate of 7%. Personal massagers and lubricants make up more than 22% of the market, and growing disproportionately fast at more than 10% CAGR.
Most of the future growth is expected to come from the normalization of the category in everyday shopping and media environments.
“Female sexual wellbeing is a fast-growing, multi-billion dollar category that has been completely mistreated by producers and retailers alike. About eight in 10 women are in the market for a sexual wellbeing product. We hope Smile Makers will be the brand to completely change the game,” said Wikström.
Hulting and Wikström both have extensive experience in consumer goods. They previously worked at Procter & Gamble in Europe and in Asia before starting Ramblin’ Brands with the idea of completely re-framing categories within female health and beauty.
Ramblin’ Brands, Ltd, is a health and beauty consumer goods company in niche categories based in Singapore with a sales office.
Ramblin’ Brands was founded in 2011 by Hulting and Wikstom “to create disruptive brands in niche consumer goods categories and challenge conventions”.
Smile Makers is their first brand, and includes personal lubricants as well as personal massagers.
DSG Consumer Partners (DSGCP) is a venture capital fund focused on identifying, selecting and investing exclusively in early stage consumer businesses in India and South East Asia.
