SAP’s APJ COO Scott Russell takes on SEA role

• Appointed president and managing director of SAP South-East Asia
• More than two decades’ experience in software, cloud and services

SAP has announced the appointment of Scott Russell (pic) as president and managing director for SAP South-East Asia, after he held the position on an interim basis for the last quarter to help ensure business continuity.
 
Effective immediately, he will be responsible for driving SAP South-East Asia’s sustainable growth strategy and operations, the company said in a statement.
 
Based in Singapore, he reports directly to SAP Asia Pacific Japan president Adaire Fox-Martin.
 
“As one of the world’s fastest-growing and competitive regions, South-East Asia is a strategic market for SAP Asia Pacific Japan,” said Fox-Martin.
 
“With Scott’s [Russell] wealth of business and management expertise in the technology industry, we are confident that he will build on our strong growth trajectory and lead SAP South-East Asia to continued success,” she added.
 
Russell has more than two decades in the IT industry spanning software, cloud and services. He was most recently the chief operating officer for SAP Asia Pacific Japan where he provided leadership and direction to SAP’s multi-functional sales and operations organisations in the region, the company said.
 
There, he drove continuous productivity improvements and significantly contributed to the achievement of revenue and profitability objectives, SAP claimed.
 
“South-East Asia companies understand that innovation will be at the forefront of how business operates,” said Russell.
 
“As such, technology as an enabler of business can be seen as a means to expand their business and promote growth.
 
“With SAP Hana at the core, and available in the cloud, SAP is well positioned to bring the value of a digital business framework … to drive the transformation of Digital Asia and help our customers create value,” he added.
