SAP appoints Darren Rushworth managing director for Singapore

• Used to helm SAP in Philippines, where third office opened last Nov
• 25 years’ experience in IT industry, 19 of them in Asia

SAP SE has announced the appointment of Darren Rushworth (pic) as managing director for Singapore.
 
He was previously the managing director for SAP Philippines. Under his leadership, SAP opened its third office in the Philippines last November last year and achieved double-digit growth in SAP Philippines’ applications market share, the company said in a statement.
 
He succeeds Kelly Tan, who was appointed managing director in January, 2014, but has since left the company.
 
In this new role, Rushworth will lead sales, business strategy development and oversee SAP operations in Singapore.
 
He will also be responsible for helping businesses in Singapore run better and simpler, as well as continue to build the workforce of the future.
 
Rushworth is based in Singapore and reports to François Lançon, president and managing director for SAP South-East Asia.
 
“Rushworth has a strong track record in the Philippines where he grew SAP Philippines into a leading cloud company powered by SAP HANA,” said Lancon.
 
“I am confident that he will continue to build on SAP’s success in Singapore and take the company to even greater heights in his new role,” he added.
 
Rushworth has more than 25 years of experience in the information technology industry, and has spent 19 years in Asia holding various roles in sales, marketing, strategic alliances and management, SAP said.
 
“Singapore is undergoing a huge transformation to become the world’s first Smart Nation,” said Rushworth.
 
“Big data, analytics and cloud will play a significant role in delivering this vision, and SAP has the solutions and expertise to help make this happen,” he added.
