SINGAPORE Telecommunications Ltd (Singtel) has unveiled a suite of hybrid cloud solutions, including the Data Centre and Cloud Connect Service (DC Connect) service.
DC Connect is a first-of-its-kind software-defined network service to be rolled out in Singapore, which allows firms to easily access and move their data seamlessly between a hybrid of public and private clouds in more than 20 data centres using a single connection, the telco giant said in a statement.
“After the initial euphoria to adopt the cloud, many enterprises typically face challenges in rolling out hybrid cloud environments because of the technical complexities and capability shortfalls involved,” said Bill Chang, chief executive officer of Group Enterprise at Singtel.
“This suite of services allows them to implement their cloud operations more easily,” he claimed.
The DC Connect service also provides low latency, of less than one millisecond, and a secure web portal for companies to dynamically adjust their cloud network requirements and manage costs in a pay-as-you-use manner, Singtel said.
Additionally, Singtel will launch the Cloud Life Cycle Service or CLS which allows firms to understand and chart a progression pathway between their present and future states of cloud maturity, as part of their digital strategies.
Augmenting the suite of cloud services, Singtel’s Liquid Sky is a platform that allows companies to orchestrate the setup and operations of their hybrid cloud environments.
Through this offering, tasks such as provisioning, governance, spend management, configuration and catalogue development can be automated and scheduled via pre-defined workflows, the company said.
Singtel said these suite of cloud and software-based services are part of its overall managed cloud offerings.
The company was recently conferred the title Telco Cloud Service Provider of the Year at the 2016 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards.
