Speedhome appoints Melissa Lam as chief operating officerSpeedhome, Malaysia’s leading, end-to-end property rental platform, announces effective immediately the appointment of Melissa Lam as chief operating officer (COO).

In a statement, the company said Lam joins Speedhome as its COO and will work closely with founder and chief executive officer Wong Whei Meng on the company’s overall operations strategy and execution.

She will oversee Speedhome’s end-to-end service delivery, including implementation, support, customer success, and infrastructure, it added.

According to Wong, Lam brings over 13 years of work experience, with her most recent role as the General Manager of Senja Aman Development.

“She was involved in successfully managing multi-divisional properties and implementing operational efficiencies, which has resulted in high customer satisfaction rates leading to increased revenue growth,” he said

“We are excited to have Lam on board to help accelerate and optimize our business while focussing on growth,” he said.

Lam said that she’s thrilled to be a part of an outfit that is a forerunner in the prop-tech space.

“Speedhome’s value proposition and its innovative approach to digitalising an age-old industry change how Malaysians approach the rental market.

“As we continue to build a platform and service offering that will deliver the promise of a rental experience made easy, I look forward to helping to unlock further value for all our stakeholders with Speedhome's exciting growth strategy,” she added.

With experience in Malaysia, China, and the United States across various industries, including oil and gas, reinsurance, external audit, and most recently, property development, Lam, who is also a registered Chartered Accountant, has consistently grown teams and business units placed under her care.

During her tenure as the general manager leading the property development firm, Senja Aman, Lam was responsible for the strategic financial management, property development, and hotel ownership for the group.

Speedhome said she was also instrumental in completing a commercial product with a GDV of US$107 million (RM450 million) comprising a hotel, serviced apartments, and a wellness center.

Lam’s addition to Speedhome comes at a time of expansion for the company as it heads into its next growth phase, it said.
