TM appoints Azlan Hashim as its new chairman

• Mohd Bakke Salleh leaves after short 14-month tenure
• A Chartered Accountant , new chairman has extensive corporate experience

Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) today announced the departure of Mohd Bakke Salleh as Chairman of TM Board with effect on 31 July 2021 and the appointment of its new Chairman, Mohammed Azlan Hashim (pic) effective 1 August 2021.

On behalf of TM Group, the Board of Directors, expressed their highest appreciation to Mohd Bakke, who was appointed Chairman in May 2020, for his leadership and contribution, while wishing him the best in his future undertakings.

TM notes that its new transformation plan has already seen a strong start with quarterly growth across all lines of business and improved operations.

Profile of Azlan Hashim

A board member at Khazanah and EPF, where he is also Chairman of the Investment Panel, he also currently sits as Chairman of several public listed entities including D&O Green Technologies Bhd, Marine & General Bhd and IHH Healthcare Bhd.

He has extensive working experience in the corporate sectors including financial services and investments. Among others, he served as Chief Executive of Bumiputra Merchant Bankers Bhd, Managing Director of Amanah Capital Malaysia Bhd and Executive Chairman of Bursa Malaysia Bhd.

He holds a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University, Melbourne and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Australia, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, and Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
