Traveloka Malaysia and Chubb introduce flight insurance plans

NOBODY wants to experience the misfortune of misplaced baggage, a lost passport or ending up in the ER of a foreign country, but it can happen to anyone.

To ensure that travellers are covered in any eventuality, Traveloka Malaysia, a technology company that provides online travel booking platform for domestic and international destinations, now offers flight insurance plans.

Teaming up with Chubb Insurance Malaysia Bhd, a leading insurer, the comprehensive plans are designed to provide a worry-free travel experience for travellers, whether they’re journeying near or far.

Users can choose to include Chubb Travel Protection when they purchase flight tickets on Traveloka, available on desktop and app (for v3 or higher). Thanks to Traveloka’s simple and easy-to-use interface, it only requires ticking a checkbox on the booking page to purchase an insurance plan.

Should anything go awry during their travels, customers can rest easy, as they will be covered for losses resulting from incidents such as loss or damage of personal items, trip cancellation and reimbursement of medical expenses due to accidents.

There are two types of plans: the domestic plan is for all flights within Malaysia, while the international plan is for all international flights departing from Malaysia. Premiums for domestic flights are as low as RM9 (one-way) and RM15 (return); premiums for international flights start from RM21 (one-way) and RM42 (return).

Traveloka’s country manager for Malaysia and Singapore, Halif Hamzah, said, “We are constantly striving to improve Traveloka’s products and services with the customer first and foremost on our minds, so adding flight insurance to our products is a vital step to ensuring a seamless and convenient journey for all our customers.

“As part of our commitment to providing the best deals to our customers, travellers will enjoy the same competitive premium across all airlines,” he added.

Customers can raise a claim by sending the relevant forms and supporting documents via email or post. You can also submit them to the Chubb office in person.
