U Mobile offers data plan to PC gamers

MALAYSIAN mobile operator U Mobile is addressing the local gaming market by offering unlimited data for PC Gaming to its prepaid customers.

The new plan named Game-Onz would enable U Mobile subscribers to enjoy playing select PC games on platforms such as Steam, Gardens and Playone Asia without worrying about data quotas.

"We understand that a lot of prepaid customers use our network for playing games so we decided to create a special plan for gamers to offer them worry free gaming,” said U Mobile’s chief marketing officer Jasmine Lee (pic above).

U Mobile hopes that this plan will take away the frustration faced by gamers who are not able to enjoy their games due to weak WiFi or fixed broadband connections.

Game-Onz enables subscribers to enjoy unlimited data for their games by turning their smartphone into a portable WiFi Hotspot.

U Mobile said it is currently working with three publishers: Steam, Garena and Playone Asia to offer unlimited data for their games which include Dota 2, League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Team Fortress 2 and BlackShot without consuming their data.

The telco said it is looking to work with more publishers and add more games to its roster of unlimited gaming.

Apart from enjoying unlimited data for their games, subscribers will also enjoy Music-Onz data that allows them to stream unlimited music from Spotify, JOOX, Tidal and a variety of radio stations.

U Mobile will be offering three Game-Onz plans at RM18, RM50 and RM70.

In addition, U Mobile postpaid and prepaid customers will be able to purchase Steam Wallet codes and MOL Points by using prepaid credits or charge it to their monthly postpaid bills.

U Mobile said it also plans to extend the ability to purchase game credits to other platforms including Garena and Playone.
