VMware appoints Uma Thana Balasingam as VP of partner business, APJ

 

VMWARE Inc on March 25 announced the appointment of Uma Thana Balasingam (pic) to the role of vice president, Partner Business, VMware Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ).

Uma, who started on March 25 at VMware, will drive the company’s  APJ channels strategy and will work closely with VMware’s ecosystem of solution providers, distributors, OEMs and telecommunications partners.

“Uma has a great track record in Asia-Pacific working with a diverse set of partners, in both mature and emerging industries, to help drive new solutions and innovation with our mutual customers,” said Duncan Hewett, senior vice president, VMware Asia-Pacific and Japan.

“We’re excited to welcome her to the team as we deploy exciting new solutions for customers in hybrid, private and public cloud, as well as in networking and security and digital workspace.”

Uma has more than 18 years’ experience in business and strategic channels development in APJ. In her previous role she was vice president of Channels and Sales, Asia-Pacific & Japan for Riverbed.

Prior to that she spent almost eight years at EMC in various senior leadership roles that included new product sales, alliances, acquisitions, channels sales, strategy and planning. Earlier in her career she worked with Brocade, IBM, and started her career as a systems engineer.

Uma was recognised in May 2018 in CRN’s The Most Powerful Women of the Channel global list. She is also the co-founder of Lean In Singapore and the founder of Lean In Women in Technology Asia and Women In Technology Singapore which has more than 1000 members today.
