Yayasan Peneraju, airasia academy to nurture tech talents

  • Aims to increase chances of employability amongst B40 community

The airasia academy & Yayasan Peneraju teamYayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (Yayasan Peneraju) has teamed up airasia academy to help stigmatised minorities increase their chances of employability by equipping them with the relevant knowledge and marketable skills in the technology-driven economy.

In a statement, the edutech platform said for a start, 200 selected learners from the B40 communities, fresh graduates, the unemployed and those who lost their jobs for various reasons will participate in the 10-day fully funded training and job placement programme.

The firm said this is sponsored by Yayasan Peneraju with fast track courses or ‘bootcamp’ by airasia academy in digital marketing, software engineering, data analytics and cloud infrastructure. 

President (Ventures) Capital A and chief executive officer of airasia academy, Aireen Omar said the company received overwhelming response from the general public who are keen to pursue a career in technology. 

“This time around we are focusing on serving the underserved.

“This is what we stand for in airasia academy, it solidifies our stand in making education in technology more inclusive, accessible and relevant to ensure the nation is fully prepared for the fourth industrial revolution.”

Meanwhile, strategy and communications director of Yayasan Peneraju Amina Josetta Kayani said, “Yayasan Peneraju is working with airasia academy not just to provide adequate training but also to monitor their progress and guide them all the way to suitable employment opportunities that can help turn their lives around.

“Once the participants have completed their training, they will undergo the employment transition program which features a workplace simulation exercise to help them assimilate to the working environment and prepare them for their new career in the technology field,” said Amina.

Besides professional certification, participants of the fully funded, Yayasan Peneraju scholarship programme are also entitled to soft skills training, curriculum vitae workshop, sponsored food and accommodations for the duration of the course and complementary 12 months access to airasia academy’s on-demand learning platform.

Those who fit the criterias can submit their applications before Oct 25.

The programme is open to Bumiputeras regardless of education level, especially women from the B40 group, single parents, freelance workers, small business owners, the disabled, those without formal education, as well as university graduates and the unemployed.
