M101 Holdings Sdn Bhd said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four IT companies – Alcatel-Lucent, Select-TV, Nutanix and Panduit – that would help it create an integrated metropolitan hub for its new development projects.

M101 Holdings aims to incorporate a cloud-based integrated solution in all its future property development projects, starting with M101 Dang Wangi and M101 Bukit Bintang (artist’s impression above) in Kuala Lumpur, the company said in a statement.

Both properties, which have a total GDV (gross development value) of RM600 million (US$143 million at current rates), are expected to be completed in 2017, it added.

The integrated metropolitan solution will comprise a ‘triple play’ using Alcatel-Lucent’s Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks (GPON) technology which provides video, data and voice in a single network, M101 Holdings said.

Alcatel-Lucent’s modem-sized devices will then be connected to Select-TV’s IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) system for in-room entertainment.

To ensure consistent 24x7multimedia streaming, both M101 Dang Wangi and M101 Bukit Bintang will be wired up with Panduit’s point-to-point fibre optic cables that run at speeds of up to 1Gbps, it said.

Both properties will also be connected via Nutanix’s new multi-premises technology which allows for one location to host the hotel property management software that can be shared with other locations through a cloud-based server, it added.

Developer M101 Holdings in MoU to bring the cloud to its properties“M101 Holdings is determined to progress and continue providing the best and beyond to our customers,” said M101 Holdings executive director Seth Yap (pic).

“Today’s collaboration, valued at RM4.7million (US$1.1 million), is our commitment to realising our aspiration to be a serious contender in the property market.

“Our partners were identified and selected for their specialisation and we sought to merge their strengths to produce an optimal IT solution for our M101 Dang Wangi and M101 Bukit Bintang properties, as we believe this is crucial in meeting the expectations of our potential customers who are seeking modern commercial facilities and contemporary residential living,” he added.

M101 Dang Wangi and M101 Bukit Bintang provide integrated commercial and retail development with SoFo (small office/flexible office) features. The upper floors will house the hotel while the lower floors will comprise individual suites.

The carpark area and retail space will be on the ground and first floors of the buildings.

Other future properties to be incorporated with the integrated metropolitan solution include M101 Sky Wheel, M101 Railway Station and M101 Kampung Attap.
