- MoU will support digitalisation of businesses, entrepreneurs in Seberang Perai
Majlis Bandaraya Seberang Perai (MBSP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Boost through Boost Biz, a merchants solutions provider.
In a statement, it said Boost Biz will be its strategic partner and the preferred e-payment services provider for the city of Seberang Perai.
Through this MoU, which starts immediately, MBSP said it will work with Boost Biz to aid and support the digitalisation of all businesses and entrepreneurs in Seberang Perai.
This will be done via the Go-eCommerce onboarding campaign until the end of the year.
“In line with the Penang2030 vision, MBSP has been actively driving a cashless society through digitalization of the economy,” said Rozali Mohamud, mayor of Seberang Perai.
“Today, people prefer contactless payments and online shopping, therefore we are excited to expand our partnership with Boost to help Seberang Perai businesses and traders gain access to digital business tools and solutions to be future-ready, as well as to bridge the digital gap in the community,” he added.
The MoU will further explore more services including business license registration and renewal via the Boost Biz app, MBSP said.
This will help increase access to MBSP services for businesses located outside the city and those who do not have access to a computer, it said.
“We are honoured that MBSP is expanding their working relationship with us and is choosing Boost to be their preferred e-payment services provider,” said Eric Chong, chief executive officer of Boost Biz.
“With the economy opening up, we hope to help businesses and traders in Seberang Perai digitalise through the Go-eCommerce onboarding campaign where they can easily shift offline at zero cost and earn 100% of their margins with waived onboarding and registration fees, alongside zero merchant discount rate,” he added.
Chong said Boost Biz is proud to do our part in contributing to the city and Penang state government’s goal to become a cashless society by 2030.
Boost said it collaborated with MBSP last year and claimed to be the first eWallet to bring three MBSP bill payment services into the digital payments ecosystem.
The collaboration allowed for the people of Seberang Perai to conveniently and safely make payments to MBSP for tax assessment, stall rental and parking compounds via the Boost app, it added.
