DELL Technologies has launched the Dell Digital Labs in Malaysia to provide unparalleled capabilities to address digital transformation in a data-driven era.

Located at the Dell Global Business Centre in Cyberjaya, the new facility is testament to Dell’s commitment to supporting the vision of a Digital Malaysia – building digital enterprises while nurturing a highly skilled workforce of the future.

Speaking at the launch, Minister of Communications & Multimedia Malaysia, Gobind Singh Deo congratulated Dell on the opening of the lab and for contributing to the growth and advancement of the nation.

“In line with the country’s progress into digitalisation, it is reassuring to see MNCs such as Dell continuing to invest in Malaysia’s digital future. Building more digital labs like this around Malaysia can help grow the nation’s digital technology footprint and create a more highly skilled Malaysian workforce of the future.

“I am particularly pleased to understand that this Digital Lab will promote the development of new skills which would include data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning. I sincerely hope that Dell will continue to invest and grow its presence in Malaysia.”

The new Dell Digital Labs in Cyberjaya, which occupies 14,000 sq ft of office space, is one of the few laboratories that Dell has invested in globally over the last few years.

It leverages on Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) – a unified multi-cloud platform – to help businesses build cloud-native software, with a new development culture centered on embedding customer feedback directly into the development process.

This allows modifications to be made to product features and put back into production almost instantaneously. Time to release software – which traditionally takes weeks to deploy – is significantly reduced, down to only days and in some cases, a matter of hours.

Pang Yee Beng, senior vice president, South Asia, and managing director, Malaysia, Dell Technologies, said, “Dell Cyberjaya is proud to be home to Dell Digital Labs in Malaysia. The lab will further enhance software engineering capabilities for Dell overall, allowing local Malaysian team members to learn and grow with the latest technologies.

“Dell has continued to invest in its human capital, growing our staff strength in Malaysia and our successful collaboration with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has helped make this a reality.

“With this lab, it is hoped that new home-grown software technologists and data scientists will be nurtured over time, while existing software engineers will be upskilled, arming Malaysia with future-ready human capital,” Pang added.

“The Dell Digital Labs in Cyberjaya is a fine example of how the Malaysian government is working with industry partners to potentise and build on another niche in which Malaysia can add great value, which is by leveraging on the nation’s strengths and skills with software engineering and data analytics. MDEC will continue working as a partner with Dell to build on its growth in Malaysia,” said Ng Wan Peng, chief operating officer of MDEC.

Also present at the official opening were senior vice presidents of Dell Digital, Office of the CIO, Garry Wiseman and Jennifer Felch. With the worlds of business and technology becoming ever more intertwined, Dell Digital Labs will allow Dell team members to drive technology innovations to solve customers’ problems and grow their businesses
