Digital Penang, an agency established in April 2020 under the Penang state government, has today announced the appointment of Ng Kwang Ming (pic) as new Chief Executive Officer effective 16 January 2023. Ng will replace the founding CEO Tony Yeoh following his retirement.

In March 2021, the Digital Transformation Master Plan 1.0 (2021-2023) was launched to lay the foundation for the digitalisation journey aligned to the Penang2030 vision. Ng will continue the digital push and lay the next phase of the Masterplan.

Chief Minister of Penang and Chairman of Digital Penang Chow Kon Yeow said, “Together with the Board, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Ng Kwang Ming as the new Chief Executive Officer effective 16 January 2023. Having had prior experiences in Malaysia’s Tech and IT private sector as well as a Federal agency, I am confident that Ng will take the digital transformation to the next level and build a strong digital ecosystem for Penang.”

Ng brings an interesting mix of extensive experience in the software, IT services and technology sectors. He has worked for leading technology multinationals, including IBM Malaysia and Motorola, as well as MIMOS Bhd, Malaysia’s national Applied Research and Development Centre under the Ministry of Science, Technology And Innovation.

The board of directors express their heartfelt thanks to Yeoh and extend their warmest welcome to Ng.
