Lazada Malaysia sells over US$24mil-worth of goods on 11.11

 

LAZADA Malaysia has kicked off its month-long Online Revolution campaign with a new sales record on 11.11. The Single’s Day event generated more than RM100 million (US$23.85 million) in gross merchandise value (GMV).

“The successful start of our Online Revolution campaign showcases the growing trust and relevancy of e-commerce in Malaysia. Together with our brand and logistics partners as well as local and international merchants, we are committed to giving Malaysian consumers the best shopping opportunities, no matter where they are,” said Lazada Malaysia chief executive officer Hans-Peter Ressel (pic, above).

Lazada Malaysia’s Online Revolution started on Dec 12, 2012 (12.12) to introduce consumers to the convenience and value of shopping online, and has grown into a highly-anticipated annual event. Every year, more and more consumers from cities to remote villages shop from a wide range of deals from international and local brands previously not available to them.

Lazada Malaysia’s website and apps had 10 million visits in a single day, three times more than last year. At its peak, Lazada Malaysia recorded an estimated 1,400 transactions per minute, with top Lazada merchants selling more than 50 times a normal day's volume on 11.11

The top three categories for the sales were Groceries, Baby & Toys and Electronics. The highest selling products in the first 24 hours were Petronas Fuel Cards, Milo 2.2kg and Pineng power banks. More than RM1.2 million (US$286,175) worth of deals were pre-booked via Lazada 11.11 Giftcards.

Customers purchased items from a price range of RM0.81 (US$0.19) (Tiger Biscuits, 60g) to RM13,499 (US$3,219) (Samsung 75" inch UHD TV).

In the first 24 hours, more than 32,000 diapers, and 34,000 smartphones and tablets were ordered by customers. Lazada Malaysia offers same-day deliveries and the first 11.11 order was delivered to a customer at 11.30am on the day.

The Lazada Online Revolution continues for a month. Next up are the Big Baby Fair on Nov 23 -27, Black Friday on Nov 24, Cyber Monday on Nov 27, Payday Sale on Nov 28 - Dec 3 and the Online Revolution Finale on Dec 12 - 14.

Themed ‘Shop The Universe’, consumers can shop from big electronic, fashion, beauty and baby product and home appliance brands, among others, with discounts up to 90%. There will also be deals, promotions, brand flash sales and ‘mystery boxes’ at discounted prices.

Lazada Malaysia is also giving away freebies worth RM60 million (US$14.31 million) altogether, including Club Med holiday packages, Go Pros, iPhone Xs, Perodua Bezzas and more.
