MRANTI launches KL Innovation Belt to spur Malaysia's startup ecosystem

• Populate KLIB hubs in Bukit Jalil and Bangsar over the next 3 years
• Sectors such as energy & greentech, manufacturing & automation, agriculture

Technology Innovation Park Malaysia (TiPM/MRANTI) is issuing a clarion call to all innovators with the launch of the KL Innovation Belt (KLIB), a one-stop centre for startups and investors. Announced during the KL20 Summit in April, the groundbreaking network of hubs across the Klang Valley is designed as their launchpad to success.

KL20, is an initiative by the Ministry of Economy to establish Kuala Lumpur as a top-20 global startup hub by 2030. This program is designed to catalyse innovation and economic growth by creating a centralised and vibrant ecosystem that brings together startups, investors and academic institutions.

Furthermore, the launch of the KL20 Action Paper outlines over 20 transformative reforms to spur robust growth and investment in Malaysia’s tech sector.

KLIB touted to empower startups and investors

According to TiPM the KLIB empowers startups and investors by fostering collaboration, innovation, and growth, enabling them to thrive to greater heights.

Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), said, “We welcome you, as a Pioneering Innovator, to be part of a community targeted to grow within the next three years into a network of 500+ startups, investors and industry leaders, with potential to collaborate with like-minded individuals whilst having access to support facilities tailored to your sector.”

These hubs will focus on nurturing key sectors including energy & greentech, manufacturing & automation, agriculture and Islamic financial services, aiming to foster a self-sustaining startup ecosystem that promotes continuous innovation and growth.

Each hub is to be equipped with dedicated co-working spaces to networking events and easy access to government agencies.
