MTDC unveils technopreneur training academy

• Tentra will equip founders with the knowledge to create, sustain companies across all growth stages
• Will develop and nurture future technopreneurs via MTDC’s signature Symbiosis programme

MALAYSIAN Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) on April 26 unveiled its new sub-brand “Tentra” which stands for Technopreneur Training Academy to its partners and companies in its ecosystem.

The launch was officiated by MTDC chief executive officer Norhalim Yunus (pic).

MTDC launched Tentra as a brand to enhance its visibility and credibility as the prime capacity building entity for technopreneurs and technology commercialisation.

Tentra’s role is to equip the founding members of a technology company with knowledge about creating and sustaining companies across all growth stages:  Seed, start-up, growth and expansion.

Norhalim said, “Tentra was incepted as an academy to develop and nurture future technopreneurs of MTDC via the MTDC signature programme called Symbiosis as well as groom and grow other fund-recipient companies. The learning and capability development programmes will be delivered through a series of face-to-face training, mentoring and advisory services.”

“The launching of Tentra as a sub brand resonates well in MTDC’s ecosystem as it supports the new and enhanced business direction of the company.  MTDC also rebranded its corporate logo late last year and its official launch here today marks an exciting new business direction that the company will be venturing into.

The new logo marks a dramatic change in MTDC’s visual identity with the use of an updated version of the company’s iconic globe. The variant blue colour with three connecting lines and points indicates MTDC’s innovative ideas that will navigate the globe in growth and reach.

The three points represent MTDC’s three core businesses and areas of expertise which are fund management, technology centre & incubator and advisory & value added services (nurturing).

MTDC also had a Memorandum of Exchange with its three Learning partners. Malaysia Practice Enterprise Network Centre (MyPEC) was represented by its managing director, Matsham Ahmad. Ellynita Hazlina Lamin, director, Innovation and Strategic Collaborations represented RTI International and its president Professor Madya Dr. Samsilah Roslan, represented Innovation and Technology Managers Association Malaysia (ITMA). 

MTDC and its learning partners will collaborate and cooperate in the areas of capacity-building, training and such other specific activities. 

Fifteen Symbiosis CRDF recipient companies also received their Certification of Approval from Norhalim. These 15 companies were approved under the 10th and 11th Malaysian Plan.
