Over 80 sponsors, supporting partners across tech sector pledge support for WCIT 2022 Malaysia

The World Congress on Innovation and Technology (WCIT 2022) Malaysia, happening in 55 days, has onboarded more than 80 sponsors and supporting partners as announced today at the Countdown to WCIT 2022 event.

PIKOM, the National Tech Association of Malaysia, is the organizer of WCIT 2022 Malaysia, with Penang State Government as Host and Malaysia Digital Economic Corporation (MDEC) as the strategic enabler.

“It is 55 days to WCIT 2022 Malaysia. We are very excited to have more than 80 partners signed up to support this global tech congress, which is leveling up above and beyond digital, innovation and technology,” said Dr Sean Seah, Pikom Chairman.

Sean highlights that the global event will have the participation of all Malaysian states to showcase Malaysian innovation and technology to the WITSA global community of over 80 economies. “WCIT 2022 Malaysia will definitely involve and include tourism and Foreign Direct Investments,” he adds.

“Delegations comprising captains of industry, leaders of government, chiefs of information and innovation, heads of academia and tech talent from six continents where WITSA’s members operate will converge for three days of impactful discussions, investment opportunities, policy action recommendations, business insights, innovative exhibits, talent recruitment possibilities, global awards and networking sessions at the WCIT 2022 in Penang, Malaysia to participate in fulfilling the Promise of the Digital Age,” said Dan E Khoo, Chief Executive Officer of the World Innovation, Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA).

Mahadhir Aziz, CEO of MDEC, said that WCIT 2022 Malaysia will be an opportunity for Malaysia to showcase its robust digital ecosystem and innovations.

“Come September, WCIT 2022 will not only be welcoming the convergence of Malaysia’s 14 states in Penang but also opening our doors to global tech giants of the world. WCIT 2022 will be essential to Malaysia Digital’s mission to attract digital investments, where its flexible and agile digital investment facilitation will allow investors to thrive in the nation. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen public-private partnerships in bringing positive change to Malaysia,” added Mahadhir.

WCIT 2022 Malaysia provides a platform to connect and power the conversations and collaborations from the quantum-leaps of transformations from the various nations joining via the digital economy. Google projected that the region's growth will triple to US$240 billion in the next seven years as a result of technological adaptation, digital innovation, and foreign investment.
