TalentCorp kicks off 2013 outreach program

  • Outreach programs to connect professional with companies, to also include students abroad
  • To also leverage on social media to make Malaysian diaspora aware of career opportunities at home

TALENT Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) has kicked off its outreach programme for 2013 with a series of networking sessions in the Middle East and the United Kingdom.

Connecting Malaysian professionals overseas with companies, these sessions provide them the ideal platform to explore the scope for collaboration and professional opportunities available in Malaysia, TalentCorp said in a statement.

On Feb 2, TalentCorp held a professionals networking dinner at the Lancaster Terrace in London which linked more than 120 Malaysian professionals with representatives from Malaysia’s leading companies in key economic sectors such as Financial Services, Hospitality & Tourism, Oil & Gas, and Electrical & Electronics.

TalentCorp said it would also hold several student engagement sessions in the United Kingdom throughout February.

“This year, in addition to strengthening our linkages with Malaysians abroad such as those in the United Kingdom, we will continue to expand our outreach programs and leverage on social media tools to make more of our diaspora aware of the richness and availability of career opportunities at home,” said Johan Mahmood Merican (pic), TalentCorp chief executive officer.

In mid-January, TalentCorp met Malaysian professionals working in Muscat and Doha through networking events organized with the Malaysian embassies in Oman and Qatar respectively.

Marking TalentCorp’s first engagement with the Malaysian diaspora in these two countries, these sessions enabled them to learn more about TalentCorp’s work and the myriad opportunities available to them to participate in the country’s economic transformation.

TalentCorp plans to return to the Middle East in March together with Malaysian companies in Healthcare, Construction and Oil & Gas to connect the diaspora to professional opportunities in these sectors.
