- Will introduce Beat-the-Champions, a monthly online tournament
YOODO – Malaysia’s first customisable digital mobile service has signed on the champions of the recent Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile National Championships (PMNC).
The move into e-sports started with Yoodo becoming the first official digital telco for the PMNC, by partnering with gaming giant, Tencent Games.
On the back of this partnership, Yoodo introduced the first ever PUBG Mobile-specific data add-on, a first in the country.
Now as a conclusion to Malaysia’s first official PMNC, Yoodo has taken on tournament champions Gank FTY to announce Yoodo Gank as their official PUBG e-sports team.
Yoodo Gank, managed under Gank Asia, consists of skilled gamers; team captain Aiman Amirul Mohd Said (ManParang), 22, Mohd Hazim Abd Hamid (Jimboy), 25, Abdul Azim Ikromi Abdul Rashad (Draxx), 20 and Mohammad Hafizi Baharudin (Geek), 23.
Commenting on the announcement, Yoodo head Chow Tuck Mun, said, “We are excited to announce the next phase in our commitment to e-sports and gamers with the unveiling of Yoodo Gank. PUBG Mobile is one of the world’s most popular games with 30 million active daily users worldwide. Through Yoodo Gank we aim to cement Malaysia’s name as a true challenger in this arena.”
Yoodo Gank will be participating in a string of national, regional and international tournaments.
Yoodo will also be introducing Beat-the-Champions, a monthly online tournament where PUBG Mobile players from across the country can aim their scopes at the champions, Yoodo Gank, to take them down and take home a cash prize of RM600 plus RM50 in Yoodo credit.
The monthly tournament begins on March 28 with a two-round session based on the standard PMNC 2018 scoring system with additional points awarded for kills on Yoodo Gank members.
Players can join in the game by visiting the competition microsite two-hours before the match. There will also be live streams of the matches on Facebook for viewers.
Meanwhile, PUBG MOBILE fans can also enjoy the game with zero data charges thanks to Yoodo’s special promotion provides Yoodoers with 20GB PUBG Mobile game-specific data up until the end of April.
Yoodo is also setting in motion the next phase of their game plan to further support e-sports by collaborating with Tencent Games to further celebrate the 1st Anniversary of PUBG Mobile with local fans at KL Live March 23, Saturday at 6pm onwards.
Building further on this collaboration, Yoodo is already working on the follow-up to the inaugural PMNC that will be launched later this year.
