Yoodo Gank to represent Malaysia at global PUBG Mobile tournament

YOODO Gank – the official e-sports team for Yoodo –gave no quarter on the battlefield as it emerged the highest ranked Malaysian team at the recently concluded Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile Club Open (PMCO) Fall Split – Southeast Asia League, organised by Tencent Games & PUBG Corporation.

With this win Yoodo Gank now takes aim at the global stage by locking in its position to represent Malaysia at the global finals of the PMCO Fall Split. There the team will go head-to-head with 16 of the very best PUBG MOBILE teams from around the world for a prize pool of approximately US$2.5 million (RM10.5 million).

“A massive congratulations to our boys at Yoodo Gank for their incredible achievement,” said Chow Tuck Mun, head of Yoodo.

“When we first got into e-sports and launched Yoodo Gank it was with the intention to build up local gaming talent and thereby further cement Malaysia’s position within the burgeoning global gaming arena. Yoodo Gank’s achievement in PMCO is a testament to how well this strategy is working. Here’s hoping that they clinch that final chicken dinner when they represent Malaysia at the coming global finals.”

Yoodo Gank were amongst five teams that represented Malaysia at the battle royale that was the PMCO Fall Split – Southeast Asia League. The team sniped the competition to emerge as the top Malaysian team by delivering the coup de grâce in two matches and racking up 212 kill points for a total of 590 points.

To celebrate this historic achievement, Yoodo will be giving away 1,000 in-game jerseys to PUBG MOBILE players – so they can show their love and support. To unlock the jersey, all players have to do is like and share the Yoodo e-sports page.

The team will rank up their skills further at the PMCO Fall Split – Southeast Asia Championship in Bangkok on Nov 1 and 3 before battling it out for the grand prize at the PMCO Fall Split – Global Finals from Nov 31 to Dec 2 in Kuala Lumpur.

“We are so excited to have emerged as the top Malaysian team and locked in our spot for the global finals,” said ManParang, team captain for Yoodo Gank. “We are going to be training extra hard now to make sure we do our very best and make Malaysia proud on this global stage.”

Established in March 2019, Yoodo Gank comprises of ManParang, Geek, iShotz and Zully. The team has already clinched several national and regional level wins and recognition including emerging as the inaugural PUBG Mobile National Championship (PMNC) winners in 2018.

This is the next highlight in a year that has already been filled with gaming milestones for telco provider Yoodo. This includes sponsoring PMNC 2018 and PMNC 2019 as well as presenting the on-going PUBG Mobile Campus Championship (PMCC) that is pitting over 6,000 students across Malaysia against each other for a US$14,474 (RM60,000) prize pool.

Leveraging on Malaysia’s widest 4G LTE coverage, Yoodo also has gaming focused data add-ons for PUBG Mobile and Arena of Valor. These add-ons allow users the freedom to enjoy lag-free gaming without worrying about going over data limits or incurring additional charges.
