- Touted as the world’s first TV-based taxi-booking service
- User can pre-set bookings for regular destinations
TELEKOM Malaysia (TM) has roped in TaxiMonger for what it said was the world’s first television-based taxi booking service, to be offered via TM’s HyppTV Internet Protocol television (IPTV) service.
The ‘Rent-a-Cab’ service is now available under HyppTV’s list of interactive channels, but currently only in the Klang Valley area, TM said in a statement.
Jeremy Kung, executive vice president of New Media at TM said other HyppTV services include Info Trafik (for traffic updates), Flight Info (for flight details), Weather Forecast, News Headline and others.
“The “Rent-a-Cab” application on HyppTV, made possible through our partnership with TaxiMonger … will definitely add value to your subscription,” he said.
TaxiMonger chief executive officer Nizran Noordin said that for their regular destinations, such as their workplace, users can have a pre-set booking. “With this integration with HyppTV, you only need to turn on your TV to book a taxi.”
The interactive application is available for free to all HyppTV customers with an additional RM2 booking fee applicable to the fare, which is paid directly to the taxi driver, TM said.
To use the service however, customers are first required to get a TaxiMonger Application PIN (personal identification number) via http://taximonger.com/hypptv/.
