Acronis builds cloud momentum, expands choice of data centre locations

ACRONIS has announced the availability of Acronis Backup as a Service version 3, which it said delivers data protection capabilities that create new revenue streams for partners without a large upfront investment.
Powered by the Acronis AnyData Engine, Acronis Backup as a Service provides deployment flexibility, including a turnkey solution for service providers hosted in Acronis data centres; a hybrid offer with Acronis hosted management console leveraging service provider’s local storage; and a complete service provider hosted and managed deployment.
The service is easy to adopt, provides a pay-for-use model and provides complete protection that customers require, including support for workstations, Windows, Linux, physical and virtual servers, the company said in a statement.
“Opportunities abound for service providers, including backup, secure file access and sharing and disaster-recovery solutions,” said Acronis chief executive officer and cofounder Serguei Beloussov (pic).
“Acronis Backup as a Service gives them the ability to offer advanced data protection to their customers with an easily managed and monitored high-margin service that delivers security and scalability,” he claimed.
Acronis Backup as a Service is a multi-tier/ multi-tenant solution, providing local and hybrid storage of backed up data, local backup on customer premise, and local recovery plus recovery from the cloud.
The service provides advanced security, including SSL encryption of management channels and in-transit and at-rest AES256 data encryption.
Acronis recently opened data centres in Germany and Japan to complement those in place in the United States, France, Russia and Singapore in order to support international cloud business growth.
