Alcatel-Lucent appoints former Ericsson man to head Malaysian ops

ALCATEL-Lucent has appointed Megat Mohd Zukarlai Meor Zailan (pic) as president and managing director for the company’s operations in Malaysia.
Megat assumes overall responsibility of managing the day-to-day activities as well as taking the lead in sales, marketing and operations, including defining, developing and implementing the business strategies for Alcatel-Lucent in Malaysia, the company said in a statement.
He brings with him 17 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining Alcatel-Lucent, he served in various executive and managerial capacities at Ericsson.
Megat began his career as a product engineer, and later moved on to high level account management, business development and country management positions, Alcatel-Lucent said.
Megat can also count on international business experience, having worked in Bangladesh, Indonesia and Sri Lanka, managing different business accounts in different positions.
He holds a diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Mara in Malaysia, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a Masters in Radio Frequency from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom.
