Bernard Chiang to lead SAP Malaysia

  • Tasked with driving strategy, business and operations in the country
  • Based in KL, reporting to François Lançon, president and MD, SAP SEA

Bernard Chiang to lead SAP MalaysiaSAP Asia Pacific & Japan has announced the appointment of Bernard Chiang (pic) as managing director for SAP Malaysia, effective immediately.
 
Based in Kuala Lumpur, Chiang will be responsible for driving the company's strategy, business and operations in the country, and will report to François Lançon, president and managing director for SAP South-East Asia.
 
Lançon said that Malaysia is one of South-East Asia’s most vibrant economies and SAP Malaysia has been “helping businesses in Malaysia run better for over two decades.”
 
“Bernard [Chiang] comes to us with deep industry experience and a proven track record of delivering business results while maximising customer value.
 
“With his keen understanding of the Malaysian business environment, I am confident that Bernard will lead SAP Malaysia to greater heights and deepen our commitment to customers and partners in the country,” he added.
 
Chiang holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Science Malaysia and has over 25 years of experience in the ICT industry across Malaysia and the rest of South-East Asia.
 
Prior to his appointment, he served as the country general manager for the Imaging and Printing Group at HP Malaysia.  He has also held various leadership roles at Nortel Networks where he led the operations of the Channel and Enterprise businesses for Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
 
Chiang started his sales career at IBM Malaysia and helmed the Global Financing division in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and India.

He led the PC Division and subsequently became the first Lenovo Malaysia country manager before moving on to Microsoft Malaysia as general manager for the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) business.

Commenting on his appointment, Chiang said: “I am very excited to be part of the SAP family, and look forward to working closely with the team here to accelerate SAP’s momentum and solidify our market leadership in Malaysia.”
