Cambodian market worth exploring, Pikom tells Malaysian ICT companies

THE National ICT Association of Malaysia (Pikom) is attempting to bring more Malaysian companies into Cambodia, and has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to act as the international partner for a technology trade show in that country.

The MoU, signed with IT solutions company Resolvo (Cambodia) Co Ltd, will include more Asean countries to “truly globalise the Malaysian ICT industry,” Pikom said in a statement.

Under the MoU, the Mobile Social Commerce International Conference and Expo will be held in conjunction with Mobile and PC Fair Cambodia, which will take place from July 5-7 at the City Mall in Phnom Penh.

The event, with the theme ‘Mobile Social Commerce Outlook,’ is supported by Malaysia’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti), the Malaysian Embassy in Cambodia and the National ICT Development Authority of Cambodia (NiDA).

The partnership will not only escalate the mobile and ICT industry for Cambodia, it will also support Asean connectivity initiatives, said NiDA Secretary General Chun Vat.

The two-day conference will feature speakers from Cambodia, Iran, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and the United States, discussing opportunities in mobile social commerce, policies and approaches of doing business in Cambodia.

The conference includes B2B (business-to-business) meetings on the second day, Pikom said.

The trade expo will showcase ICT related products and services, and will be open to the public on July 7 to allow companies to engage and trade directly with potential business partners and end-users.

Pikom said it believes Malaysian ICT companies participating in this event will get direct access to the market potential in Cambodia, whilst creating opportunities to expand their business in this up and coming region.
