PRESTARIANG Group, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Prestariang Systems Sdn Bhd, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Tekla (SEA) Pte Ltd that males Prestariang its official corporate education partner for Malaysia.
Tekla provides Building Information Modeling (BIM) software to the engineering and construction markets.
The MoA marked the first-ever collaborative effort initiated by Tekla with a corporation to boost BIM education, Prestariang said in a statement.
Under the MoA, Prestariang will be the exclusive education partner to all institutes of higher learning including universities, polytechnics and community colleges in Malaysia; and will also act as Tekla’s authorised training centre in Malaysia.
“As the software and IT industry continues to move rapidly into the next millennium, so do the construction and engineering industries,” said Prestariang Group chief executive officer Dr Abu Hasan Ismail.
He said the Tekla Structures BIM software solution (pic) “provides an accurate, dynamic and data-rich 3D environment that can be shared by contractors, structural engineers, steel detailers and fabricators, as well as concrete detailers and manufacturers.
“We believe this will greatly benefit our market in civil and structural engineering education and development of local talents for the global market through our globally benchmarked certification courses,” he added.
Prestariang has trained and certified over 200,000 individuals as well as distributed and managed more than five million software licences since its inception in 2003.
“We are delighted to be working with Prestariang as we establish our footing in the Malaysian education segment,” said Michael Evans, director of Education and Key Accounts at Tekla Corp.
“We believe that this joint endeavour will prove fruitful especially for civil and structural engineering students nationwide as we provide effortless access to our software and encourage its integration into the curriculum to expand the students’ knowledge and skills,” he added.
Tekla is headquartered in Finland with a presence in more than 20 countries and customers in more than 100 countries. Malaysian corporations amongst its customers include Milwanto Industries, Kimlun, Ranhill WorleyParsons and Sime Darby Engineering.
